Treatment Draft

Here is a draft for my treatment, it may be the full treatment, but over the course of this day the whole thing will be complete and then I will start storyboarding and filming

The opening scene shows the main character Ronnie as an innocent clean and sober teenager, he is located behind a sheet of glass in this shot, at this point there is no music at all, the clip is accompanied by a voiceover from Ronnie’s perspective explaining some of his downfall and in the end he ends with the word Froze, the reason for the word Froze is because it’s the main title of the song and it can be a starting point for the experimental imagery. Under this sheet of glass main character Ronnie is feeling terrified and scared you can see this by the facial expression and body language, he is trapped behind this sheet of glass, desperately trying to get out but he can’t, after this multiple cups of coloured water is poured from out of the shot onto the sheet of glass. He then starts running on the spot to try and get away but he doesn’t seem to be getting away, this is when screams are heard from all different vocal pitches and sound warps are used, this is when the video cuts to black and the word Froze comes to the screen. You then see the main character Ronnie appear as himself but frozen behind this piece of glass, the video will strobe so that you see him every 0.5 seconds with a cut to black in between around 5-10 times. This is when the music kicks in. you then see something on the screen which is black and white that you cannot make out what it is, it looks like a bubble or a circle at the moment and it is slowly growing.

You then see main character Ronnie wake up in the first location which is a very nice field/green area, there will be some trippy visuals in this clip put on the screen with double exposure and different types of blending modes, this scene represents the positive part of the drug trip, the grass will be greener, he will be laughing very highly and there will be some sound warps with laughter for about 3 seconds in the middle of this shot, there will be some close ups mainly as well as some medium shots in this scene. About 30 seconds into the shot main character Ronnie will fall over where he will start flying off into the sky. He is then in a black room where he cannot escape, he is surrounded by neon and laser disco lights, he is also covered in UV paint, he looks happy in this shot as he is moving to the beat of the music, but then about 20 seconds later he starts to look very scared and unhappy, the shot fades out slowly and then moves into a different shot, in this shot the neon lights turn to black and white strobe lights with some tones of red and white, this is where the main character’s eyes turn black and start dripping with coloured liquid, you will see this in multiple different shots, the shot will then fade to black and the main character goes with it.

Ronnie then wakes up in a derelict/abandoned place where he doesn’t know where he is, he is running around scared because he doesn’t know where he is, he keeps coming around to the same locations over and over again which is a psychological thing for Ronnie. Whilst Ronnie is running around he is confronted by some figures throughout his life and there will be some double exposure on the screen of close up shots of people shouting at him, he is greeted by some people in capes and some people who look generally scary as well as some well-hidden silhouettes, the shot will go into some more shots of him screaming, there will then be another voiceover of him explaining this. He will then fall into the ground and wake up in another derelict place surrounded by fire and as well as some satanic symbolism and imagery surrounding him, he is wearing a cape in this scene and is rocking back and forth whilst sat on the floor, he looks very scared at this point accompanied with some heavy breathing, this will be accompanied by another voiceover as the shot fades out and another one fades in.

The next shot is of Ronnie flying into the sky, he is surrounded by clouds and skies and the voiceover from the last shot continues on to this shot, he is flying for about 20 seconds with multi-angles from all around the sky, when the shot reaches its end the sky turns from bright and sunny to grey and miserable, this signals the end of the music video and the transition to acceptance.
