Working Title Here
“Money Hunger” – I decided to go with this title as a description of the bailiff being hungry for money, it also shows the contrast of the old women being in debt and the man being hungry for the bailiff’s blood and for the bailiffs murder.
Log Line / USP
I did some research into past taglines and loglines of Ben Wheatly’s films, for high rise I found that the two chosen loglines were, “Welcome to the high life….” which is a clear idea and relates to the film really well whereas the second logline is a direct relation to all of Wheatly’s films as a whole which is “Leave the real world behind” which shows that this film is a bit materialistic in its ways and represents a bit of a dystopian future.[1] Sight seers is a film that has 6 taglines, a tagline from the film Sightseers is “Killers have never been so average” which relates to the normality of couple Tina and Chris, who are a pair of holiday makers in Britain who kill people so this film is quite similar to mine as the killer in mine is very average.[2]
I did some research into my chosen tagline and I have decided to go with either “Killing has never been so easy”, “Hunger, Money, Power, Shock” or “Killing in the name of money”
I decided to go with the logline “Killing has never been so easy”, I decided to go with this because it is mainly a Ben Wheatly style logline and it is an explanation of the film, the killer is a simple guy trying to defend his mother and it is a simple task to kill him for him so in conclusion the tagline relates to the film and is in Ben Wheatly’s style.
Objective
I plan to do the screen style brief and I have answered it by making it in the style of British surrealist director Ben Wheatly, his style is very surreal and works with extremely surreal storylines, he also uses the kitchen sink drama genre a lot as horror, thriller genre, he lays out his films so that the film starts off normal with the happy families concept and there is a sudden change of the film making it more surreal, terrifying and uneasy for viewers, his films Kill List, Sightseers, A Field In England and High Rise demonstrates this.
I have decided to make a 5-8 minute short film about an old woman who is being hunted down by a bailiff and when her son comes down to see her to bail her out, he decides to kill her and figure out how to get rid of the body.
